Background[edit | edit source]

Pasifika Health is a Power BI app designed to show population health information received by external providers. This data was envisioned as a key part of model of care and digital platform development in order to:

  1. Understand equity and access issues in more depth, and
  2. Use on an ongoing basis for quality improvement and programme evaluation.

It provides an overview of the following data:

  • Pasifika people resident in Te Manawa Taki region (including unenrolled people via HSU.[1] This incorporates some demographic detail, but is pseudonymised (eg. age group, and SA2).
  • Primary care enrolments from NES.[2]
  • Inpatient data at patient-level, including length of stay, diagnosis and procedure detail. This is derived from NMDS.[3]
  • Community pharmacy dispensing, including drug type, chemical name. This is derived from the Pharms national collection.[4]
  • Outpatient data at patient-level. This incorporates:
    • Outpatient clinics
    • District nursing
    • ED attendances

and is derived from NNPAC.[5]

  • PHO enrolment detail
  • Primary care utilisation
  • Chronic disease management, including:
    • CVD management
    • Diabetes prevalence and management.

Data sources[edit | edit source]

The above data is compiled via a range of external stakeholders. Te Whatu Ora data enquiries team have provisioned access to national collections, whereas direct relationships with Midland PHOs has supplemented this with PHO data.

All data is received as flat files and manually loaded to relevant schema in the kaute_main database. Please refer to PHO pages such as Pinnacle data or Hauraki data for information specific to their provided data.

The different incoming data is 'merged' into pho.vw_ptbase to provide a single flattened view of the most recent dataset from PHOs.

Configuration[edit | edit source]

The app is published directly to the Team leads and management team.
